A new system that gives people immediate on-line access to their payslips has been launched by payroll software specialist, Star Computers Limited.
The Star ePayslips system enables payslips to be published on a secure hosted service, through which staff and employers can call up electronic copies of current and archived payslips, without having to go through a busy payroll department – 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, anywhere in the world where they can access the web. The service can be used both by Star’s bureau payroll and in-house payroll users.
Stuart Rosenberg, IT Partner at chartered accountants, Gerald Edelman, who is one of the first to sign up for the system following beta testing at the firm, says that ePayslips is a great idea.
“The speed and convenience of the system is excellent. It is saving us over two hours each month in administrative time and effort as well as the cost of printing out and posting paper copies to partners and staff at our four offices – and ePayslips puts an end to lost payslips,” he comments. “I am sure that ePayslips is set to revolutionise UK Payroll Services.”
Radley Jacobs, IT Manager at Gerald Edelman, is just as enthusiastic: “We have over 100 people on the system and it is proving its worth. ePayslips is very handy where evidence of salary is needed – such as re-mortgaging, for example – and the mortgage provider asks for payslips going back six months.
“Inevitably, one or more payslips will have been mislaid, resulting in a telephone call to the payroll department asking for copies. And it always seems to happen at month or year-end when the payroll department is particularly busy. Now, people can by-pass the department and call up the relevant payslip on screen, using a secure log-in and password, quickly and easily. The set up was fast and simple and payroll staff only needed five minutes to learn how to send data from the payroll software up to the hosted service.”
Having experienced the practical application of Star ePayslips for themselves, Gerald Edelman is now introducing the system to its own payroll clients.
“We can see worthwhile benefits for clients from adoption of ePayslips, not just through employee self-service but also through a reduction of the amount of time needed to produce and distribute payslips, as well as dealing with enquiries,” says Rosenberg.
“It also means we can offer clients a service that other firms locally cannot, which I am sure will attract new business for the bureau.”
Star ePayslips is fully integrated with Star’s Payroll Professional software, used by many firms of accountants, from sole practitioners to the Big 4 accountancy firms, to provide bureau services to their clients. It is also used by an impressive list of corporate customers, a number of whom also have Star’s Expatriate Payroll option.
