Star Practice Management has been implemented in Clifton Gunderson, the 14th largest firm of certified public accountants in the US with 45 offices across 17 states, employing around 2,000 staff. The firm chose Star because it had outgrown its previous systems and after an exhaustive search of the US market decided that Star Practice Management was best suited to its needs, both currently and to take into account planned future expansion of the firm.
Firms of this size often have unique requirements and one of the reasons Star Practice Management was chosen was Star Americas’ willingness to enhance the program to satisfy some specific needs, combined with a proven track record of having done the same with other firms.
The size of the project was considerable, and a joint project team worked diligently over the last year to ‘go live’, on schedule and on budget, across the entire US office network just after Labor Day.
Bernard Skalla, Vice President of Star Americas, says: “From the start of our dialogue we felt confident that with Clifton Gunderson there would be a good working relationship. Projects of this scale and complexity have to be much more one of an equal partnership than one of simply vendor/customer, and that is what we have achieved. Both Star and Clifton Gunderson can be proud of bringing this substantial project to a successful conclusion across a large user population.”
Star Computer Group established Star Americas last year in response to its rapidly growing activities in the Americas and North America in particular. Star has been doing business in North America and the Caribbean for around 10 years, and now has a base in Chicago to provide local support. Other North American clients include Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton, Virchow Krause and various regional offices of the ‘Big 4’ accounting groups in the Caribbean.
