MAS International orders Star Practice Management system

Offices on three continents will be linked to server in Luxembourg

Based in Luxembourg, MAS also has offices in Paris, Mauritius and New York, and the Star system will be available to all MAS staff wherever they happen to be working.

MAS Partner, Herman Schommarz, explains why MAS decided a new system was needed: “Our current system was installed some years ago and we felt it no longer met our needs here in Luxembourg. In addition, it is not available to staff in other offices, which was becoming an issue as we work very much as one firm irrespective of where people are based. Of course, this meant any new system had to handle multiple legal entities and currencies as well as being able to work remotely. We knew that Star is used by a number of the Big 4 firms in Luxembourg so we decided that they must be worth approaching.”

Having contacted Star, the firm soon realised that as well as being able to address the issues cited above, Star also offered them a wide range of other benefits.

“We will be able to improve the way time and billing is done, making the processes more efficient and more ‘real time’.
The reporting capabilities are also far in excess of what we have now,” Schommarz continues. “Also, because additional database fields can be created in the Star solution alongside their standard fields, we are going to be able to transfer all data from our current system and capture even more. In particular we have a lot of information in areas such as compliance and anti-money laundering that can be transferred straight into Star. This will help to shorten the overall time needed to change systems, and we plan to go live with the new installation across all offices in mid September. Furthermore, Star is a very intuitive system which we will be able to maintain in-house with some initial training.”
