Winter Rule, the largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Cornwall, has placed an order with Star Computers Limited for Practice Management and Invu Document Management software. The system will be based in their main Truro office but will be fully accessible by staff in their other Truro and Newquay offices. The Practice Management software will be implemented before Christmas and Document Management in early 2008.
The firm first came into contact with Star in 2004, but had hoped their existing Time and Fees system supplier would provide them with an upgrade to meet the growing requirements of an expanding firm. However, this year it decided it had waited in vain for long enough and after a thorough review of several suppliers chose Star.
In the intervening years, the firm decided that it also wanted to make the leap to the ‘less paper’ office and so when the time came to look around, looked for a supplier that could meet two sets of demanding requirements -- Practice Management and Document Management.
Winter Rule partner, Alan Brownscombe says “We were impressed with the Star software and Invu and also with the overall approach of Star. Throughout the review process Star’s people demonstrated a high degree of understanding of our needs, offered helpful advice, and were always able to answer any questions we had quickly and thoroughly.”
As part of the selection process Winter Rule spoke to clients of all the short-listed suppliers. “The Star clients were very positive,” comments Brownscombe. “They spoke highly of the company, and in particular of the levels of support and service they receive from all points of contact within Star.”
Adding Winter Rule to its client portfolio makes Star the dominant supplier of Practice Management software to larger firms in Cornwall, and which reflects the general status of Star as the main Practice Management software supplier to the larger regional firms of professional accountants across the UK and Ireland.
