Exceptional delivery timescale means 1,300 employees get paid on time
Leading shoe retailer Faith Shoes has gone live on a new payroll system for a total workforce of over 2,000 staff only two weeks after placing an order with Star Computers. This unbelievably tight timescale was achieved with a lot of hard work by staff both at Star Computers and Faith Shoes, helped in no small part by the considerable data import tools available within Payroll Professional.
Company Secretary of Faith Shoes, Martin Cox, explains more:
“For a number of reasons a decision was taken to move away from having our payroll outsourced and to implement an in-house system. Having made what was a pretty big decision we were then committed 100% to making the move as quickly as possible.”
“Our major concern was being able to make a switch with sufficient speed that the payment of some 1,300 staff on our fortnightly payroll would be unaffected by the change. We were fortunate that our Payroll Manager had used Payroll Professional in the past and was aware that the software has great data import capabilities and felt that Star as a supplier would try their best to help us achieve our target.”
“I am pleased to say that the next working day after we placed our order a Star consultant was on site helping us to prepare for the move. With assistance from Star and a lot of hard work by the payroll staff we hit target, with the first fortnightly payroll being processed the following week and all employees received their first ePayslip that Friday. Star’s work throughout the implementation process has been exemplary.”
In addition to the fortnightly payroll, three other payrolls will also be processed using Payroll Professional, paying a total of some 2,000 staff. Most of these staff are spread around the 85 stores and 120 concession outlets operated by Faith Shoes. This helps to explain why Faith Shoes will also be using ePayslips as part of the Star solution. “Being able to get payslips delivered to staff around the UK as ePayslips, avoiding the time and cost of printing and posting payslips is a bonus we hadn’t anticipated when we made the decision to change.”
Howard Hoddell of Star Computers adds “We all took a deep breath before we started on this, but everyone rose to the challenge and it just goes to show what can be done with the right software and a ‘can do’ attitude.”
